Djing in clubs leaves me at the mercy of very loud sound systems, which in time would inevitably seriously damage my hearing. I would never even enter a club, let alone DJ without my custom-fit ACS ER15 earplugs.
Whatever you forget, don't forget your earplugs says Eddie Halliwell, Creamfields headliner and Don't Lose the Music supporter.
At festivals sound levels can exceed 110dB – the equivalent of an aircraft taking off. Don't Lose the Music warns that listening to music too loud for too long can cause permanent damage to your ears, resulting in problems such as tinnitus and hearing loss. If music fans want to experience many more festivals they should remember their summer saviour, earplugs.
Most people will remember a few key things like drinking water, applying suncream and using a condom to protect themselves while having a great time. But many people will fail to protect their most important asset for listening to the music they love – their ears.
DJ Eddie Halliwell says: "Djing in clubs leaves me at the mercy of very loud sound systems, which in time would inevitably seriously damage my hearing. I would never even enter a club, let alone DJ without my custom-fit ACS ER15 earplugs. I will definitely be wearing them during my set at Creamfields. They are essential - which is why I give my full support to the RNID's Don’t Lose the Music campaign."
Run by RNID, the charity for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, the campaign informs festival-goers about how they can protect their ears now so they can enjoy the music they love for years to come.
Emma Harrison, RNID's Director of External Affairs said: "It will be Don't Lose the Music's first year at Creamfields, and we want to encourage people to have lots of fun and enjoy the fantastic line-up, but to look after their ears while they're partying.
"Our solution is simple: pick up some reusable earplugs that reduce volume, not quality of sound, at around £15 a pair they won’t break the bank - we will be selling ER20 ready to wear earplugs on the day. Use chill out zones to give your ears a rest and don’t stand too close to the speakers."
Love your ears this summer with Don't Lose the Music by visiting the team's stand at Creamfields (29-30 Aug). We will have 5 Eddie Halliwell Cream CDs to give away and other signed merchandise available. You can catch the global superstar DJ's ED-IT stage show on the Cream stage from 5:30-7pm.
